I am currently on a career break so I won’t be updating this document again until I would need to use this again.

Motivation for this document

This document is my way of introducing you to my leading style, what drives me as a leader, what you can expect from me, and the best ways of engaging with me.

My role

Hi! I'm Daria Tanti. My passion lies in building cross-functional teams and helping people grow.

I'm a huge fan of engineering, product and design working together.

I also like organising anything that is unstructured (with the help of communication, processes, budgets etc..)

Personal Life

I live in Haz-Zebbug, Malta, I’m married and we have a 4 year old son and a 1 year old daughter. When I’m not working or spending time with my family, I enjoy watching movies & TV shows, reading books, working out, and enjoying the company of my friends.

My Work History

I started my professional career as an engineer in a startup company and this was a conscious decision as I wanted the learning curve: Webit Studios. We were a team of 4 and we were creating Minely, a tool to offer powerful analytics, however until we got that running we were offering our services to a gaming platform and creating mobile applications & websites. Working at a startup, you don't work the usual 40 hours a week but you get to wear multiple hats and this gave me many learning opportunities. I've then delved into lecturing, and I've found a new passion. It was amazing! I still worked as an engineer at that time and also used new technologies.

I was fully hands-on as an engineer for 10 years, I was an engineer who did a lot of everything in all parts of the stack. I launched mobile applications for airlines, restaurants, radio shows, and a news agency. I've helped create an enhanced and tailored WordPress CMS for a gaming platform and also built e-commerce websites. Mostly writing in JavaScript, Nodejs, PHP, and some C#. Before starting my professional career I also did many websites, some static and some using WordPress.

For the last 8 years, I've been mentoring and helping people grow. Recently I've been in engineering management, mostly leading product teams. I've managed a team of ICs directly and I've also had managers and their teams directly reporting to me. Either way, I help the teams grow and make sure they're working as efficiently as possible while having fun doing so.

My management philosophy

Family comes first. Always.

Trust. Trust yourself, trust others. And trust doesn’t mean blind obedience or blind acceptance. ****

Passion. I always try to keep true to this quote: "Do something you enjoy and you will never have to work the rest of your life".

Space. You should have space to succeed. Or fail.

Take care of your people. Showing empathy with everyone.
